Membership Levels
There are 4 steps to certification
application. A checklist is attached to the Certification
Information Form for your assistance.

Maintain current UKCC membership.

Complete the certification information form. ( You can
request from by emailing us along with your detailed CV
and two references ) .

Attach
required documentation as noted on the application
checklist.
-
Complete background check forms and fees as directed on
the certification application .
-
Enclose the appropriate fees (check,
money order, or purchase order).
Please remember . . .
1. The certification process will not
begin without payment.
2. Certification fees do not include UKCC annual
membership.
3. Certification and membership cannot be processed
concurrently.
4. The UKCC does not accept credit cards or department
purchase cards.
Level 1 ( Basic )

Minimum of 500 hours tutorial experience.
-
UKCC membership in good standing.
-
A minimum of 10 hours of structured tutor
training via workshops and conferences with an Education
Home certified tutor trainer or supervisor.
-
Supporting documentation as indicated on the
certification application and checklist.
Level 1 ( Advanced )
-
A
Minimum of 750 hours of tutorial experience.
-
UKCC
Membership in good standing.
-
Completion of the UKCC developed and
approved “Tutoring Essentials ” course provided by
Crossroads of Learning, or competency proven through
knowledge and skills testing.
-
Supporting documentation as indicated on the
certification application and checklist.
Level 2 ( Basic )
-
Bachelor's degree earned with a minimum
of 120 hours completed.
-
1000 hours tutorial experience.
-
Presented an informational session at a
minimum of one tutorial or educational conference (may
be local, regional, or national).
-
UKCC membership in good standing.
-
A minimum of 50 hours of structured tutor
training via workshops and conferences with a UKCC
certified tutor trainer or supervisor.
-
Supporting documentation as indicated on
the certification application and checklist.
Level 2 ( Advanced )
-
Bachelor's degree earned with a minimum
of 120 hours completed.
-
1250 hours tutorial experience.
-
Assisted with a minimum of three tutor
trainings on local campus.
-
Presented an informational session at a
minimum of one tutorial or educational conference (may
be local, regional, or national).
-
UKCC membership in good standing.
-
A minimum of 50 hours of structured tutor
training via workshops and conferences with a UKCC
certified tutor trainer or supervisor.
-
Supporting documentation as indicated on
the certification application and checklist.
Level 3 ( Basic ) – Professional Tutor
-
Master’s degree earned.
-
1500 hours of tutorial experience.
-
UKCC
Member in good standing .
-
Presented a research or training session
at a minimum of two regional or national tutorial or
developmental educational conferences.
-
A
minimum of 75 hours of structured tutor training via
workshops and conferences with a UKCC certified tutor
trainer or supervisor. This includes 10 hours spent
working on an individual project .

Supporting documentation as indicated on
the certification application and checklist.
Level 3 ( Advanced ) - Master Tutor
-
Master’s degree earned.
-
UKCC Member in good standing
-
Presented a research or training session
at a minimum of two regional or national tutorial or
developmental educational conferences.
-
Published tow articles in the UKCC
Newsletter or other recognized educational forum.
-
A minimum of 100 hours of structured
tutor training via workshops and conferences with a
UKCC certified tutor trainer or supervisor. This
includes 10 hours spent working on an individual project
as described below.

Supporting documentation as indicated on
the certification application and checklist.

A minimum of one year experience as an
educational program administrator, director or
coordinator.
-
A
minimum of 6 months as a tutorial program administrator,
director or coordinator .
Level 4 – Chief Tutor
-
PhD or equivalent degree earned
-
UKCC Member in good standing
-
Presented a research or “hot topics”
session at a minimum of two regional or national
tutorial or developmental educational conferences.
-
Published three articles in the UKCC
Newsletter or other recognized educational forum.
-
A minimum of 150 hours of structured
tutor training via workshops and conferences with a
UKCC certified tutor trainer or supervisor. This
includes 10 hours spent working on an individual project
as described below and 15 hours of workshops
specifically designated for tutor trainers.

Supporting documentation as indicated on
the certification application and checklist.

A minimum of two years experience as an
educational program administrator, director or
coordinator.
-
A minimum of one year as a tutorial
program administrator, director or coordinator.
-
Documented previous experience
facilitating workshops, seminars or other professional
trainings.
